Removing Drainage Wells

The drainage well array is shown being withdrawn from the submerged sandfill berm.

This is a necessary step prior to the onset of wave loading so that it is clear to the obverver that the berm is not experiencing the benefits of inwardly acting Seepage Forces.

In this way the behaviour of a berm, while having been built with the aid of Seepages Forces, will subsequently perform without continuation of water drainage from within the soil-structure.

Local disturbance and slackening of slopes can be seen to results from this disturbance/extraction. This is clear evidence that the slope can remain standing steeply after the Seepage Forces have ceased to act on the berm.
